Never Played Half-Life
Some of the schools here do have parts of them underground because it gets so cold. I've been in the University of Rochester's tunnels; they connect all of the academic buildings. My school, however, started off on a really small plot of land in the middle of town, so we think that there were only access tunnels for the steam heating system. The current campus on the edge of town, is all 1940's and newer (none of the academic buildings are older than the 1960's, I think), so there's no cool underground tunnels.
