Are you sure it's an OEM version of Windows? OEM versions are normally shipped by PC manufacturers like Dell, Gateway, etc., and are only intended to run on their machines. If you just went out and bought Windows somewhere, it shouldn't be OEM.

You'll still run into a few problems when swapping motherboards, though, since Microsoft considers that as being an entirely new computer at that point. You'll have to re-activate Windows online, or call them.

    yeah, its OEM. got it cuz it was cheaper than the regular type. didn't think I would need to be replacing the motherboard, at least not this soon after building the thing.
    I know it is OEM as it has the license info on the case/sleeve thing: "this OEM software is....blah blah blah."
